As a limited liability corporation (LLC) comprised of local community
mental health providers, SyCare works with behavioral healthcare management
organizations in order to better serve its clients. In 1995, under the
State's newly
implemented capitation program for mental health services, SyCare
became a partner with ValueOptions, a successful national behavioral healthcare
management organization, and its state representative, Colorado Health
Networks. This partnership saved Colorado taxpayers millions
of dollars each year.
Begining with the new Medicaid contract in January 2005, the State of
Colorado revised the regional coverage areas available for the Medicaid
bid. The area that SyCare mental health care centers belong to is now called
the Western/Southern Geographic Service Area. The new area encompasses
all of the old SyCare region and its 19 counties, plus Pikes Peak Mental
Health
Center and their three counties, as well as Southwest Colorado Mental Health
Center, Midwest Colorado Mental Health Center, and Colorado West Mental
Health, and their 21 counties. The combined eight mental health centers
along with
Colorado Health Networks won the new contract, and this new expanded partnership
is called Colorado Health Partnerships. SyCare and its mental health centers
are part of this new partnership.
SyCare's mental health centers are also active members of the Colorado
Behavioral Healthcare Council (CBHC) whose mission is, “To promote
the development and growth of relevant, high quality, comprehensive mental
health services
at the community level.” This organization has served as a
unifying and coordinating vehicle for its members. It promotes development
and
growth of quality services; performs research, surveys, and educational
activities; spearheads state-level policy involvement;
and markets member services. CBHC also sponsors an annual mental health
conference
that provides
education and training
for mental health professionals and for community mental health center
board members. It collaborates with other mental health providers, advocates,
consumers and state government
representatives
to support and promote interagency and consumer resolutions.
